Artist’s Statement

I have always enjoyed drawing and sketching, and in recent years have developed a love of the watercolor medium, producing creative designs and expressive art. The subject matter for my body of work is wide-ranging from animals, birds, landscapes and people, to abstract designs and expressive color compositions.

With a background in architecture and outdoor landscape design, I gained an appreciation of design elements from both the natural and built environment. My inspiration for painting comes from the colors, textures, physical form, and the interactions between people and the wonders of nature.

In my earlier days, my drawings were rigid and controlled by rules and constraints without imagination. I love art and music, and played the drums as a kid, which loosened me up a bit. I have two wonderful creative adult children who inspire me daily to think outside the box and let my imagination go wild. That’s the excitement that feeds my passion for painting and self-discovery.
